Radio Show
by Scott Askew
Would you like to see more discussion on the public airwaves of environmental issues? I am looking for organizations and individuals that are interested in supporting and establishing an environmentally based radio program in the Houston area. The program could be aired on one of the public radio stations or a commercial station, if sponsors are recruited.
This idea is in the early stages of development so any creative ideas and energy will be welcomed.
Objectives: To provide a medium for local environmental organizations, community activists and concerned citizens to communicate information on local environmental problems and possible solutions; and to promote discussion and dialog among diverse communities on ways to improve their local environment and quality of life.
Format: A weekly program centered around one or more guest speakers per show from members of local environmental organizations, activists, agency representatives and government officials and occasional interviews with guests on national or international environmental issues with local implications. Discussions will be focused on community involvement, public policy and solutions to environmental issues. The show may also include announcements of upcoming meetings and events and a brief news section about new but under reported environmental issues. The program could also include a listener call-in period, which would allow for listener questions.
If individuals or organizations are interested in supporting this proposal, appearing on programs, having announcements aired or volunteering to help produce the show, please contact Scott Askew at 713-520-6048 or at evsystems@aol.com. |
