GuideStar is an organization that is working to improve the effectiveness of nonprofit organizations. 501(c )(3) organizations can register online to be included on Guidestar’s web site, which contains a comprehensive listing of nonprofit organizations throughout the United States. This service, in addition to those outlined below, is free of charge.

• an online newsletter that can be updated as often as necessary;
• official communications such as press releases;
• classified ads for requests for financial, in-kind or volunteer support as well as staff openings;
• web design and development help from volunteers at Microsoft Site Developer Network (MSDN Online);
  and
• posting images of IRS Form 990 and other documents.
