Texans for Alternatives to Pesticides (TAP) 3015 Richmond, Suite 270 Rochella Cooper, President Martin A. Reiner, Executive Director Purpose Statement: Pesticides are a threat to our health and the environment. Many city and county municipalities, schools, civic associations, commercial pest control companies, landscaping companies, and private citizens are using hazardous pesticides, which have been linked to cancer, neurological problems, birth defects, and reproductive disorders. Infants and children are especially vulnerable to the effects of pesticides, yet approximately 90% of all Americans use pesticides over 2 billion pounds per year. The primary mission of TAP is to educate consumers and policymakers to the health risks of pesticides and to encourage the use of alternatives in urban environments.
