Purpose Statement: To pursue an enhanced quality of life through a greater appreciation of the value and beauty of the plant world; Mercer Arboretum & Botanic Gardens seeks to establish and maintain a versatile botanical facility for Houston and the greater Gulf Coast region, serving the general public, the horticulture industry, and the scientific community.

Publication: Quarterly newsletter, Parkscape, published by Harris County Precinct 4 Parks.

Major Events: March Mart Plant Sale, March 21-22, 2002, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Adult Programs: Lunch Bunch on the second Wednesday of each month from noon to one. Topics vary. Specialty tours and programs on the third Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. Master Gardeners with Harris County.

Children's Activities: Guided school tours, self-guided tours.
