Houston Canoe Club P.O. Box 925516 Purpose Statement: As Texass oldest and largest paddling club, the Houston Canoe Club seeks to unite persons interested in the safe use and promotion of paddlesport for the purposes of recreation and conservation. Publication: Monthly newsletter. Speakers Bureau: Call hotline. Major Events: Annual Southwestern Canoe Rendezvous, October, the largest in-water canoe event in US. Meeting Time: 2nd Wednesday of the month, 7 p.m., American Red Cross Building, 2700 Southwest Freeway. Childrens Activities: Youth committee plans events throughout the year. Volunteer Opportunities: Annual clean-ups on Armand Bayou, Buffalo Bayou, San Marcos River, Guadalupe River; assisting the Buffalo Bayou Regatta; and on-water tree and cord-grass plantings.
