Purpose Statement: To foster dialogue, education, and collaboration about environmental issues in the Houston/Gulf Coast region. The CEC affects the quality of life in the region by improving the quality of environmental discussion through its publications, forums, and events.

Publications: Environmental Exchange, monthly newsletter and calendar; annual Environmental Resource Guide; Environmental News Update, a weekly environmental e-mail news service.

Major Events: Annual Meeting, April 1; Earth Day, April 19; Synergy Awards for Environmental Excellence, Fall; special topic seminars.

Meeting Time: Board of Trustees meeting, first Tuesday of every month, 6 p.m., Houston Environmental Center (3015 Richmond at Eastside).

Volunteer Opportunities: Areas include publications, clerical, special events, and special projects. On-going program volunteers and interns work during normal business hours, special committees work varied hours.
