Hosted by Rice Design Alliance Board Members Jill Pearsall, Assistant Vice President of Texas Children’s Hospital, and Saied Alavi, Vice President Operations of Marek Brothers Systems, join the Rice Design Alliance for a hard hat tour of the Texas Children’s Hospital Legacy Tower. Participants will have the unique experience to tour a soon-to-be opened hospital with the management, construction, and design team that made this landmark project happen. The Legacy Tower is a 19-story vertical expansion to an existing 6-story base building. Construction started in November of 2015 and the tower is projected to be completely occupied by September 2018. The Legacy Tower will house 126 beds for pediatric and cardiovascular intensive care, 6 new operating rooms with the latest technology to complement the hospital’s existing 19 ORs, and will be the new home of Texas Children’s Heart Center, including the outpatient clinic, 4 cardiovascular ORs, 4 catheterization labs and 42 acute care beds. This vertical expansion will help reinvest in the programs needed to provide the highest level of care to the most critically ill patients. RDA corporate members FKP, Walter P. Moore, WS Bellows, Humphrey and Marek are among the project team for the Legacy Tower.
Tickets available at $25 for RDA members and $35 for non-members. The tour is open to anyone 18 years and up. Hard hats will be provided to participants. Please note that closed toed shoes and long pants are required. This is an active construction site tour.
