Adult admission (13+) is $4.

Children (5-12) and seniors (65+) is only $1.

Meet at the large picnic pavilion in the Children’s Discovery Area.

If in doubt about the weather, contact (281)424-9198 or check BNC’s Facebook page.

Participants may make a special shelter or treat for the nature center wildlife and one to take home. Enjoy a fun, educational morning; then stay to picnic, bird, hike, fish, or just relax. What a great way to spend a morning!

TOPICS

January 6, 2018 – “Winterizing for Wildlife”

Ever wonder how birds and other wildlife make it through winter? It is widely known that many bears hibernate during the winter, but most other wildlife must acclimatize to the season. Food sources for birds become scarce and protected shelter is harder to find among bare trees. Small mammals like opossums, raccoons, and skunks must also make adjustments. Anoles, snakes, toads, and frogs must also adapt to the changes.

Join BNC for ideas to make a winter-friendly habitat for wildlife that may visit this chilly season. Naturalist, Crissy Butcher, shares tips on easy projects to provide shelter, food, and water for feathers and furry friends as the temperatures drop.
