The Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning along with the Association of Student Planners (ASP) and Future Leaders in Urban Planning (FLUP) are hosting the 2nd Annual Imagining New Futures event November 15-16 in College Station.
On Thursday, Nov 15, Chris Duerksen, noted land use lawyer and authority on nature-friendly communities, will kick off the event with a talk on Local Development Codes for a Global Future, part of the College of Architecture’s Giesecke Lecture Series. All are welcome to attend this free lecture at 4:00 p.m. in the Preston Geren Auditorium on the Texas A&M campus.
Friday, Nov 16 begins with a breakfast where Chris, a former elected member of the city council in Fredericksburg, Virginia, will discuss ways that community leaders can support sustainable development. Then join us for Strategies for Sustainable Development, a one-day workshop to include sessions on urban agriculture, energy conservation and community resiliency. Come away with a new, comprehensive framework for improving your community’s development code.
