Purpose: Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center is a 275-acre, Harris County Precinct 4 nature park dedicated to environmental and natural history, education, wildlife conservation, and passive recreation.
Purpose: The Memorial Park Conservancy is dedicated to the preservation of the native habitat of Memorial Park for future generations; to public use, enjoyment, and education in accordance with the conditions of the conveyance to the city by the Hogg family; and to the on-going support of the Houston Parks Department. Publication: Our monthly electronic newsletter, Happening in the Park.
Purpose: To establish and maintain a versatile botanical facility for Houston and the greater Gulf Coast region, serving the general public, the horticulture industry, and the scientific community. Publication: Quarterly newsletter, Parkscape, published by Harris County Precinct 4 Parks. Programs: Various education programs offered throughout the year focused on gardening and plant related topics.
Purpose: To develop, in children and adults, life-long curiosity, understanding, and respect for nature. Publications: Quarterly newsletter; Nature At Your Doorstep: RealWorld Investigations for PriMary Students (book); Birds of Russ Pitman Park (pamphlet); Discovery Trail Guide (pamphlet).
Purpose: To cooperate in the enjoyment and study of nature; to further conservation of natural resources and foster interest in them, and to work toward the establishment and maintenance of natural sanctuaries and preserves.
Purpose: Working with the city, county, state, and community to preserve, enhance, increase, and celebrate area parks and green space; speaking out when parks are threatened; planting trees and wildflowers across the Houston area; initiating park preservation programs.
Purpose: A nonprofit organization for people interested in nature and dedicated to the study and protection of the environment.
Purpose: Dedicated to the orderly and organized planting of street trees along residential and commercial thoroughfares in Houston.
