NRG has a facility in Baytown, the EcoCenter, which is used as a wetland plant nursery, and community outreach facility. We also support power plant environmental activities. The work at the EcoCenter is typically physical, outside, and dirty. Activities range from mowing to public speaking, boat maintenance, and night-time alligator surveys. The position is temporary and will require some work on weekends. It pays $13/hour for a 40 hour week for 14 weeks. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, be able to pass a background check and pass a drug screen. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge is seeking summer employment applications from young men and women ages 15 to 18. Two positions will be available through the Youth Conservation Corps program. No prior experience is necessary but participants must be citizens of the United States. Crew members will work 40 hours per week for $ 7.25 an hour starting June 14th through August 6th. Hours of work will be Monday thru Friday from 7:30 AM till 4:00 PM. Work will be conducted outside and will be physically demanding. Individuals selected must have transportation to and from the refuge office, located at 1351 N. Main, Liberty, Texas. Typical duties will include trail maintenance, boundary line posting, fence construction, building construction, and various restoration and maintenance projects. Educational field trips and training sessions will also be included.</p>
<p>Selection will be on a random basis from the list of qualified applicants. Young adults interested in wildlife careers, summer employment, or job experience are encouraged to apply. <li>The Galveston Bay Foundation seeks TMDL Water Quality Outreach Specialist. Closing Date September 18, 2009. Facilitate the development of the Implementation Plan for Six Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) for Bacteria in Waters of the Upper Gulf Coast. <span id="more-5468"></span> The selected individual will lead the efforts to (1) facilitate stakeholder input to the TMDL Implementation Plan, (2) disburse information to the stakeholders, and (3) assist the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality with the drafting of the Implementation Plan based on stakeholder input.  The individual will make presentations, convene meetings, develop the draft implementation plan and other written materials, place articles in print and electronic media, and otherwise work to secure the participation of stakeholders in the TMDL process.  The Galveston Bay TMDL Outreach Specialist will collaborate with the volunteer GBF Water Quality Committee in this effort.  The candidate will also develop and implement additional water quality related initiatives. <li>The Woods Project, Inc., a 501 (c ) (3) headquartered in Houston,  is seeking to employ on a contract basis one or two individuals with a passion for working with high school kids,  a teaching background, and an interest in environmental/ecology/wilderness programming to work up to five hours per week as the leader of after school Outdoor/Ecology Clubs at up to  three of our Partner Schools in Houston. The position will include co-developing and administering a hands-on active curriculum to up to 30 high school youth meeting after school at school sanctioned clubs on a weekly basis throughout the school year.  There will be significant latitude on the type of programming offered. The Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge, located in Liberty County, TX, is looking for two paid interns that will be hired through the Student Conservation Association (SCA).  The two positions, entitled &#8220;HCC Biological Technician Intern,&#8221; are listed on the SCA website at <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://ent.groundspring.org/EmailNow/pub.php?module=URLTracker&#038;cmd=track&#038;j=284350510&#038;u=3120912">http://www.thesca.org</a> and will be filled in August.  The positions will last approximately 30 weeks with free housing available on the refuge.  Interns<br />
will be doing a host of duties including, but not limited to: staffing the waterfowl check station, repairing fence lines, picking up litter, exotic invasive control, tending the butterfly garden, and visitor information activities at the public use area.</li>
