Summary: The Sanctuaries Steward will assist in the day-to-day operations of Houston Audubon’s sanctuaries (3,400 acres) on the Upper Texas Coast. One to two years experience required in either volunteer management or staff supervision; invasive plant species control; park operations; or project management. Excellent physical condition required. Demonstrated ability to perform hard physical work for extended periods. Preferred skills include experience with chainsaws, power tools, tractors, shredders, ATVs and other tools, including GIS and GPS. A bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
Location: Upper Texas Coast.
Salary: $25,000 – $35,000 depending on educational background and professional qualifications.
Terms: 40 hours/week full-time position. Health, retirement, and vacation benefits included. Travel and overnight stays between Houston Audubon sanctuaries is required; expenses between sanctuaries will be reimbursed.
