Monthly Solar Energy System Workshop @ TXRX

This free workshop addresses the basics on how to install and operate a solar system.  It covers topics such as solar array types, costs of equipment and labor, permitting, energy savings, and reliability.  The instructor Bill Swann is an expert in solar energy and has built many of his own solar systems.  This workshop is ideal for all people as Bill can answer the simplest and most technical of questions.  If you want to learn more about solar, this is the workshop for you. This is a free, public workshop. Houston Zoo’s Educator Workshop: Making Science Meaningful with Project-Based Learning @ Houston Zoo

HOUSTON ZOO

Wondering how to teach engaging scientific content and increase your students’ college and career readiness skills? In this workshop, you will experience inspirational strategies for students to learn science content while building their 21st Century skills through a project-based learning lesson focused on wildlife found at the Houston Zoo. This workshop is ideal for 5th to 12th Grade educators.


9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Lunch included)
$30 per educator

You’ll receive a 6 credit hour CPE certificate; either 6 hours of Science credit or 6 hours of GT credit at the completion of the workshop.

Educator Workshops are weekday sessions that focus on the behind the scenes aspects of teaching. We provide tips, tools and techniques for high functioning classrooms.

 

CANCELLATION POLICY

Refunds: Patrons who provide a written notice of cancellation to the Conservation Education Department (1513 Cambridge, Houston, TX 77030) on or before 3 weeks (21 days) prior to the program date will receive a full refund. No refund will be issued after this date. Program and date changes are not available.

The Houston Zoo reserves the right to cancel any program due to minimum enrollment, inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, in which case a full refund will be issued. Cancellations are official upon receipt of confirmation from the Houston Zoo.

Two workshops are available on Saturday, December 9, 2017. One workshop is $40; register for both workshops to receive a $5 discount. What is QuailMasters?

A series of intensive, hands-on training sessions designed to expose participants to the best of the best quail habitat in the state of Texas and make them ‘masters’ of the art and science of quail management. Quail-Masters will enhance your decision-making skills relative to 3 phases of quail management.

QuailMasters Course Schedule

Session I: April 22-24, Roby
Session II: June 3-5, Breckenridge

Includes most meals and classroom materials.  Lodging, travel and some resource material are the student’s responsibility.

 

Requirements for Participation

QuailMasters is a prestigious, intensive program, and we expect 110% of our participants. As a ‘fledgling’ QuailMaster, you will be expected to attend all four sessions of the Quail-Masters program.
