TWA’s Youth Videoconference – ASI: Animal Skull Investigation @ Online event

TWA’s Youth Videoconferencing is:

  • Free, interactive, curriculum-enhancing, natural resource programs
  • Designed for Grades 1-6, TEKS-aligned K-8
  • 45 minute programs (includes student Q&A)
  • TEKS aligned post activities and worksheets
  • Includes four (4) issues of TWA’s mini-magazine Critter Connections!

 

ASI: Animal Skull Investigation

This interactive presentation allows students the opportunity to investigate skulls of native Texas animals. Unique adaptations will be discussed and students will be asked to identify common structures of animal skulls and then determine their function(s). During the investigations, students will discover the feeding habits, survival adaptations, and finally the identity of our mystery specimens.

 

Registration closes one week prior to program date.  Each program time has 4 Interactive and 50 Non-interactive spots available.

The mission of the Houston Food Policy Workgroup is to nurture the growth of a sustainable local food system, accessible to all, through education, collaboration, communication, and creation of a food policy council for the Houston region.

Meetings are open to the public and generally include leaders from various diverse organizations in the Houston region working on food issues. The group meets to discuss and encourage the advancement of local food production and consumption, and has begun to take on projects to work towards the functions stated in the mission statement. This group depends on the varied areas of expertise of its members, which allows the group to successfully move forward in its endeavors.

The workgroup meets at 11:30 AM on the second Wednesday of each month.  All are welcome, as long as you RSVP.

Quarterly Rural Meetings
Every three months, we meet move the monthly meeting to somewhere around the Houston region to allow rural partners and farmers easier access to participate in the workgroup and to expose Houstonians to Houston’s agricultural assets.
