Electronics Recycling at Clear Lake Recycling Center @ Ellington Field/Clear Lake Neighborhood Recycling Center
Dec 2 @ 4:00 am – 10:00 am
Electronics Recycling at Clear Lake Recycling Center @ Ellington Field/Clear Lake Neighborhood Recycling Center | Webster | Texas | United States

The City of Houston Solid Waste Department and CompuCycle are providing monthly one day E-Recyclable collection events on the first Saturday of the month at the Ellington Field/Clear Lake Neighborhood Recycling Center.  This is primarily for City of Houston residents, but CompuCycle says no one will be turned away.

CompuCycle – Houston’s first R2 certified electronic solutions provider – guarantees that all data will be permanently destroyed and that electronic items will not end up in our landfills. If parts of the equipment can be reused, they will make sure that this is accomplished, and no parts will be sent to Asia or Africa.
Since the program began last year, collections have averaged about 15,000 pounds per month. Thank you for caring, recycling, and keeping these hazardous substances from the landfill! Compucycle is able to salvage for reuse or sell almost all materials turned in at these events. That is a win win for everyone!

Items accepted:
TVs, PCs, servers, keyboards, mice, laptops, game consoles, monitors, switches, small kitchen appliances, memory chips, hubs and routers, printers, copiers, scanners, fax machines, projectors, rechargeable batteries, cable boxes, car batteries, telephones, cell phones, PDAs, tape drives, hard drives, cords, cables, cameras, toner cartridges, stereo equipment, CD’s, floppy drives, VHS tapes, hair dryers, curling irons and straighteners, alarm clocks, irons, radios, and electric fans.   Any small appliance with a plug can be donated!

Also, CompuCycle has a mobile hard drive shredder to shred hard drives on-site for residents.
You can also recycle these items at the CompuCycle warehouse.  Check their web site for details: www.compucycle.net

Jan 24 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

FB-Header-The-RidgeContinuing our wildly successful 2017 showing, the Citizens’ Environmental Coalition is proud to bring the Wild & Scenic Film Festival on Tour, one of the largest environmental film festivals in North America, back to Houston for two nights: January 24 & 25, 2018!
filmfestival2015marquee_smaller_croppedWe invite you to join us at the 2018 W&SFF On Tour to be held at the historic River Oaks Theatre, where up to 450 patrons each night will enjoy about ten short films each night highlighting the latest environmental issues. We selected films that showcase the links between beauty, environment, adventure, quality of life, and action.

By showing these films, CEC is working to connect individuals and organizations to create a stronger Gulf Coast environmental community.

For the 2018 showing, CEC will work again with the Houston Green Film Series WSFF Logoto host a screening of films telling local environmental stories. Two of these films will be selected for inclusion in the January 2018 showing of the festival; you can view all the local film candidates on CEC YouTube Channel.

To learn more, please contact rachel@cechouston.org or 713-524-4232 for more information. For the latest scoop, check out the event page on Facebook.
