Electronics Recycling at Clear Lake Recycling Center @ Ellington Field/Clear Lake Neighborhood Recycling Center
Dec 2 @ 4:00 am – 10:00 am
Electronics Recycling at Clear Lake Recycling Center @ Ellington Field/Clear Lake Neighborhood Recycling Center | Webster | Texas | United States

The City of Houston Solid Waste Department and CompuCycle are providing monthly one day E-Recyclable collection events on the first Saturday of the month at the Ellington Field/Clear Lake Neighborhood Recycling Center.  This is primarily for City of Houston residents, but CompuCycle says no one will be turned away.

CompuCycle – Houston’s first R2 certified electronic solutions provider – guarantees that all data will be permanently destroyed and that electronic items will not end up in our landfills. If parts of the equipment can be reused, they will make sure that this is accomplished, and no parts will be sent to Asia or Africa.
Since the program began last year, collections have averaged about 15,000 pounds per month. Thank you for caring, recycling, and keeping these hazardous substances from the landfill! Compucycle is able to salvage for reuse or sell almost all materials turned in at these events. That is a win win for everyone!

Items accepted:
TVs, PCs, servers, keyboards, mice, laptops, game consoles, monitors, switches, small kitchen appliances, memory chips, hubs and routers, printers, copiers, scanners, fax machines, projectors, rechargeable batteries, cable boxes, car batteries, telephones, cell phones, PDAs, tape drives, hard drives, cords, cables, cameras, toner cartridges, stereo equipment, CD’s, floppy drives, VHS tapes, hair dryers, curling irons and straighteners, alarm clocks, irons, radios, and electric fans.   Any small appliance with a plug can be donated!

Also, CompuCycle has a mobile hard drive shredder to shred hard drives on-site for residents.
You can also recycle these items at the CompuCycle warehouse.  Check their web site for details: www.compucycle.net
Keep Kingwood Green will send a monthly reminder to our mailing list and Facebook page

Nature Discovery Center’s Tree ID Walk @ Nature Center front porch
Dec 2 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am

logo

We meet on the Nature Center front porch.

Fall is a great time to learn more about trees! Some may even put on a colorful display as the season progresses. Jim McKee, a Master Naturalist, tree lover, and bird watcher will be leading more walks in the park this fall to teach us how to identify the trees that live here in Russ Pitman Park. Jim shares lots of interesting historical and biological facts about the many species of trees we have in Russ Pitman Park as well as how to identify them. You are welcome to come to one or all!

This is a FREE, drop-in program. No registration required.

For more events by the Nature Discovery Center, visit their event Calendar!
