BikeHouston’s Light Distribution Ride @ BikeHouston Office
Dec 12 @ 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

BikeHouston

BikeHouston wants to make sure everyone riding around at night is able to be seen.

Meet at the BikeHouston Office at 6:00 pm and we will start the ride at 6:30 pm.

The ride will consist of group/teams of two or more people in different parts of the city to handout lights to people riding without them.

The areas we will send people to are:

  • 3rd Ward
  • Northside/Near North
  • Heights
  • EastEnd
  • Downtown
  • Museum
  • Montrose
  • Washington
  • Med-Center

It will work to your advantage if you are familiar with these areas of town.

BikeHouston has the lights available so you do not need to bring anything but yourself (unless you have extra lights you would like to give).

The goal is to help and educate people that are out riding their bikes about how important it is to be seen when riding at night.

Bring a friend or come make a new one on this ride, and let’s have some fun!

Climate Change Reading Group @ Axelrad Beer Garden
Jan 4 @ 6:30 pm

Image result for houston sierra clubWhat does climate change mean for Houston? More Harvey-like severe weather events, more devastating storm surge, more energy use dependent on fossil fuels, wider spread tropical disease, or more heat index days and ozone? If you are interested in learning about climate change and identifying ways Houstonians can make a difference, then join the Houston Sierra Club reading group dedicated to climate change. The reading group will meet every month to discuss an article, book excerpt, or podcast related to climate change, with special focus on Houston. There will be four meetings at Axelrad Beer Garden at 6:30 PM. Each date has a specific theme:

10/5 Climate Change Overview
11/2 Climate Change in Texas
12/7 Solutions, Houston Style
1/4 Imagining the Future

The group will be limited to 15 people, and attendees will receive a confirmation and link to online assignments before the end of September. Be a part of this informative reading group by RSVPing online.
