Monthly Volunteer Day at Buffalo Bayou Park @ Wortham Insurance Visitor Center at The Water Works

Monthly Volunteer Day at Buffalo Bayou Park @ Wortham Insurance Visitor Center at The Water Works | Houston | Texas | United States

Houstonians, ages 9 and up, are invited to join Buffalo Bayou Partnership for community-wide volunteer days at Buffalo Bayou Park happening the third Saturday of each month. Whether volunteering as a large or small group, or individually, your efforts will lead to a healthier environment and a more aesthetically pleasing amenity for all to enjoy.

Volunteers will help with a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: trash pick-up, mulching and weed removal. We do ask that all volunteers bring their own work gloves. All other necessary work tools will be provided by BBP.

Join your co-workers and friends for Houston’s “Largest Office Party” at Memorial Park. This event promotes the health and fitness of our corporate community and provides a great opportunity to network with fellow Houstonians. The race is one of a kind in Houston and around the country featuring an unassigned staggered start. The 5K main loop course will remain open at Memorial Park over a four day period from October 23-26, 2017. Just select one day that week when you’d like to run or walk and then show up anytime that day between 4-8pm. Don’t worry about being late in the Houston traffic or getting stuck in a meeting that runs long. YOU CHOOSE what day and time fits best with your schedule! No matter which of the four days you choose to sign up, you can enjoy refreshments afterwards in our hospitality tent along with the chance to network with the rest of the Houston corporate community. A portion of all registration and sponsorship proceeds will directly benefit the Memorial Park Conservancy, which is committed to restoring, preserving and enhancing Memorial Park for the enjoyment of all Houstonians, today and tomorrow. GOMA Texas Hurricane Harvey Mini-Grant Program Deadline

The Gulf of Mexico Alliance (GOMA) is a partnership of the five Gulf States, federal agencies, academic organizations, businesses, and other non-profits in the region. Our goal is to significantly increase regional collaboration to enhance the environmental and economic health of the Gulf of Mexico.

The Texas Mini-Grant Program is a public-private partnership, administered by GOMA and funded by agencies, businesses, and private organizations, to provide funding for projects that address immediate needs as a result of Hurricane Harvey in Texas. Mini-grants can be used to fund immediate needs in the following priority areas: water quality or water quantity, wildlife or fisheries, natural habitats, and resilience.

Award values range from $5,000 to $10,000 and will be provided to the recipient upon execution of a grant agreement. Applications should be submitted via email to Laura Bowie at Laura.Bowie@gomxa.org by Tuesday, October 31, 2017.

Guests will dine al fresco on the beautiful lawn at The Water Works in Buffalo Bayou Park while honoring Susan Keeton and celebrating renovation of the historic Sunset Coffee Building.
