AIA’s 3rd Ward Bicycle Tour @ HCC "Central Campus" Sign

Houston Community College, Emancipation Park, Project Row Houses, Texas Southern University and more! This tour will look at the neighborhood’s character, history, and future in the center of Houston.


Reservations are required for this tour as attendance is limited.

Attendees need to bring their own bicycle. We encourage everyone to wear a helmet. If you do not have your own bicycle, you can rent a bike from Houston B-Cycle. Nearest stations are located at Holman & Main (HCC/Ensemble Metro Station) or Holman & Live Oak (Project Row Houses).

This tour will meet in front of the Houston Community College “Central Campus” sign at 1300 Holman Street.

The Eddie V. Gray Wetlands Education Center and the Baytown Nature Center are hosting a free service learning club for high school teens.

Under the supervision of Christina Butcher, Baytown Nature Center Naturalist, and Wetlands Center Education Coordinator, Jina Faith, high school students, who wish to make a difference in the community, make new friends, and/or gain volunteer hours while having fun, meet Wednesday afternoons from 4-5 pm.

Participation in small conservation projects develops teamwork skills and environmental responsibility to enable the students to pick, plan and implement a larger conservation project of their choice.

Audubon Bird Survey at Baytown @ Baytown Nature Center

Audubon Bird Survey at Baytown @ Baytown Nature Center | Baytown | Texas | United States

Houston Audubon in partnership with the Baytown Nature Center is leading a monthly count at the Baytown Nature Center. David Hanson is the leader. The survey is usually conducted on the third Thursday of each month, September through May, and results are posted on eBird. The survey normally begins at 8 AM. AIA’s Houston Heights Bicycle Tour @ Heights Branch of the Houston Public Library

This tour explores the original footprint of the Heights, Texas’ and Houston’s first mixed-use community and home to 120 of the 215 National Register of Historic Places listed in Houston. We will look at a wide variety of building types that are historic and original to the area as well as more recent contemporary architecture and discuss how these fit into the context of the neighborhood.

Attendees need to bring their own bicycle. We encourage everyone to wear a helmet. If you do not have your own bicycle, you can rent a bike from Houston B-Cycle. The closest B-Cycle station is in Stude Park.
