Houston Environmental News Update March 14, 2018

Happy Pi Day and happy St. Patrick’s Day! I’m sure that many of you, while enjoying spring break, are also looking forward to the International Day of Forests and World Water Day (more next week).
In the meantime, I would like to talk a bit about birds. Now is a great time to observe birds–fleeting glimpses, studies of behavior, and listening to songs and calls. Migration (for those passing through), courting, and breeding are ramping up, and it’s a great time to be a birder. Here are a couple of ways to get involved with birds:
If we missed something, and I’m sure I did, post the bird photo on iNaturalist or Birds of Texas on Facebook. And email the info to news@cechouston.org.
Banner Credits: Images in the banner are from events and programs or the organizations listed above. Special credit goes to Wendy Wright at White Oak Bayou Association, whose Blackburnian Warbler (BLBW), Magnolia Warbler (MAWA), Black-throated Green Warbler (BTNW), and Yellow-rumped Warbler (YRWA)–and her eagle photo–were the inspirations for this week’s bird theme.
