Galveston Baykeeper Wetland Watch

Wetland preservation is effective protection from a hurricane’s damaging flood waters and storm surge.  Galveston Baykeeper is looking over the shoulders of the United States Army Corps of Engineers,  Environmental Protection Agency, Texas Commission of Environmental Quality, and the Coastal Coordination Council demanding enforcement of the Clean Water Act and the “No Net Loss” policy to preserve remaining wetlands. (Early morning trip) – Join us as we explore Sheldon Lake at the state park located off of the Beaumont Highway (Business 90), 2 miles east of Beltway 8 in northeast Harris County. After the trip will visit the Environmental Learning Center, an old fishery that has “gone back to nature” but has walking trails, studies of pond ecology, and catch and release fishing.
